Up, Up and Away!

What a beautiful weekend for the Quechee Balloon Festival! Blue skies and calm wind speed made perfect weather conditions for smooth sailing over the Quechee Gorge. A total of 21 balloons filled the early morning sky on Saturday.

White River Junction Office Manager, Harold Elliott helped organize the event through the local Chamber of Commerce. Other Cota & Cota staff members pulled together to keep the event running smoothly. Craig McCullough volunteered at the gates to help passengers find their way back to the starting line on festival grounds. Jon Reed made a special fuel delivery, and our Cota Community Van helped tether a balloon for those who wished to have the balloon experience without traveling too far.

Thank you Harold, Craig and Jon for volunteering your time to an important community event!

US Builders Review

Cota & Cota was recently featured in US Builders Review magazine! Chris Cota, 2nd generation at Cota & Cota, explains our philosophy for success:

‘“Our philosophy is pretty simple: don’t lie, answer the phones and everything else is just gravy,” says Chris. The company’s flexibility and willingness to invest in additional skills and licenses has paid off; CCI professionals will tackle projects of any kinds, giving customers greater peace-of-mind by providing a one-stop-shop for many critical services. The company also meets the needs of local tourist destinations by supplying and servicing high-efficiency, space saving boilers for condominium units across ski resorts.”

“Just the other day I spoke with a woman who admitted she has been a customer of ours for 55 years,” beams Chris. “We really value the relationships we have with our clients and our vendors.”. In order to continue garnering such long term customers CCI understands that its efforts to update and evolve with new products and service is never-ending. CCI most recently began selling the Nest Learning Thermostat, a Wi-Fi enabled thermostat that remembers the homeowner’s preferences to ultimately conserve energy.’

“Concert for Vermont”

On Sunday, May 27, the Stratton Foundation held a music festival to benefit local flood victims. Performers included Trevor Hall, Cas Haley and Justin Young.

Bill and Kemi O’Donnell, who own property on the Stratton Golf Course, were kind enough to loan their land to the foundation for the event. Dave Moore, Cota & Cota’s Stratton office manager, and Casey Cota pitched in for the cause, by handing out water to all who attended.

The event was a success, not to mention a lot of fun! We appreciate the Stratton Foundation’s efforts in supporting our local community.

Plunge for Charity!

On April 29, our Brattleboro office manager, Mark Ethier, took a plunge for charity – literally. Mark braved 38 degree water in the West River to raise money for The Marina Restaurant’s seventh annual plunge. The Boys and Girls Club of Brattleboro was this year’s beneficiary.

Mark is not new to helping out the Boys and Girls Club. As a Brattleboro Rotarian, Mark helped install a new floor on their basketball court after it was washed away by Hurricane Irene. We appreciate your efforts, Mark.

Rotarian Spotlight

“Service Above Self” is the code our fellow Rotarians serve by. Our Ludlow office manager and dedicated Rotarian, Jim Rumrill knows this well.  Jim has welcomed foreign exchange students into his home through the Rotary Club of Ludlow’s Youth Exchange Program. Most recently, Jim and Jaimi Monroe (Executive Assistant to Casey Cota), chaperoned 22 foreign exchange students on a trip to New York City. Out of the 22 students, 19 countries were represented. Thanks to Jim and Jaimi, these students participated in a variety of events, including: visits to the United Nations, Wall Street, the World Trade Center Memorial, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, 5th Avenue and many more landmarks! They even caught a performance by the Harlem School of Art Students, and the saw the Lion King on Broadway. Thank you, Jim and Jaimi, for helping to make these students’ visit to the United States memorable!

Feel the Warmth!

At the 34th Annual HomeLife Show in Hanover, NH, we held a drawing to win a full season of heating fuel (up to 2,000 gallons). Frank and Janice Perron of North Pomfret, VT are the proud recipients for the 2012-2013 season! Frank and Janice say they will enjoy the financial freedom of not paying to heat their home this upcoming season.

So, with a warm heart, we congratulate Frank and Janice Perron for their recent win. We hope they enjoy a warm heating season on us, and look forward to a lasting relationship with our new friends.

Going the Extra Mile…

In the past week we have been tremendously proud of our employees. Many have gone the extra mile by getting involved in the communities we serve, and we wanted to share some community feedback.

Once again, Harold Elliott (Office Manager, White River Junction) brought his talents to the Upper Valley community. On Saturday, January 28, 2012, Harold volunteered at the 11th Annual Youth Ice Fishing Derby located at Dewey Pond in Quechee. There were around 50 participants ages 14 and under.  Thirty fish were caught, including a 31 inch northern pike, a 21 inch large mouth bass and a 15 inch crappie. Prizes were given for the longest fish, shortest fish, and greatest total length of all fish caught by one participant.  Harold manned the Cota grill cooking hotdogs and chili. He also assisted on the ice measuring fish. Cota & Cota would like to thank Harold for his community service.

“I would like to thank Chris Teague, and Deb & Jill from the Brattleboro office for donating their time to bowl on my office team for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Bowl A Thon this past Saturday.  Of course Don Bartlett (hubby), was also on the team as well as myself.  We all had a great time, and it was for a wonderful cause. They are not only dedicated staff for your company, but dedicated to helping out the community.”

When Bill Otis found out there would be no 7th grade softball team this year due to lack of funding, he stepped up to the plate. Even though Bill is already coaching 3rd and 4th grade baseball, and 3rd grade softball, he volunteered his time, without hesitation, to make sure the 7th graders had a team as well. Bill – we are very proud of your efforts!

“Thanks for (once again) going above and beyond for the girls and stepping up to be their softball coach. ” ~Karen Therrien
