The holiday season has arrived, and with it has brought the true spirit of giving. Last week, at the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce Holiday Mixer, a drawing was held for 200 gallons of heating fuel. There was a catch. The winner, a local business member, had the responsibility of finding a family in need to give the gift of warmth. Beth Shrader, Director of Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition, received the gift through a random drawing. It couldn’t have been a better fit. Beth will use her resources through BAPC and Youth Services to find a family anywhere in our service area who could really use some help this year. This is the third consecutive year that Cota & Cota has given away 200 gallons of heating fuel at the BACC Holiday Mixer through our Ken Cota Gift of Warmth Program. Past recipients have been Kathy Waters of Youth Services, and Steve Cormier of 96.7 WTSA fm. Both used their positions to reach out to the public and find the right candidates for the gift.
After getting such a huge response from the WTSAfm giveaway last year, we have decided to donate a gift of 100 gallons each to two radio stations this heating season – WTSAfm and WXLF. Each radio station has taken on the task of anonymously finding qualified candidates in our service area who could really use some extra help this year with their heating costs. Check out their websites for more information about the giveaways. Let’s help our neighbors by giving the give of warmth!
